"Happy Meat" by Matt Green #ALTER #horror #shortfilm Connect with the Filmmakers: https://www.instagram.com/noncastrato/ https://www.matt-green.co.uk/ https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7582827 More About "Happy Meat": ‘Happy meat Inc.’ had a dream. They had a dream to save the world. They had a dream to make a genetically modified lab-grown super-meat; to reduce emissions and put an end to the needless suffering of innocent animals. And in the process get stinking rich. After three years of hard work and development, they land a multi-million pound investment deal with Bloomberg ltd. But… What happens when your lab-meat develops a mouth? And that mouth starts to scream? And then it bites a chunk out of your interns cheek? And then chews itself free and escapes from the lab and tries to eat the cleaner whole. What do you do then? Welcome to the living nightmare of Happy Meat CEO Lars Brocklehurst, as he desperately tries to hold onto the deal of a lifetime, whilst covering-up the monstrosity that’s festering below. Director's Statement: As a story, 'Happy Meat' is a critique on the toxic cultures of capitalism and the unchecked exponential growth of big-tech and Pharma. The pursuit of profit over people. The environments that those cultures create and the monster that emerge from within that framework (be it CEO's, products, certain ethics etc. and in this case - The Meat Monster itself). And within this subject-matter, the film delivers a pretty stark message, with a dose of black-comedy to make it palpable. This film isn't an attack on veganism. The film is merely using veganism to suggest that even something as environmentally and morally positive as vegan food, has the potential to be exploited. And that point of 'exploitation', is the crux of this story. All these characters are exploiting something. And it raises the questions - is that element of exploitation a part of what makes us human? Is anything ethical? And what do we choose to ignore?
