That's the question that confronts our main character in Five Star. We set out to make something funny and scary, and hopefully a little bit relatable. That feeling of doing everything you can to get a job done, but it's seemingly never enough. It's something that has definitely haunted me before, and it was a great jumping off point for a short. From a craft perspective, in order to nail this specific tone, we had to do a lot of pre-vis work. Both comedy and horror can be two sides of the same coin, but a lot of planning had to go into making the beats hit just right. And once we had that plan, we could let loose on set, knowing what was most important.
